5. Don’t use insecticides

For the next 10 days, I will be posting daily tips for how you can minimize your exposure to toxic chemicals in our environment. 💄💅🤢

5. Don’t use insecticides.

Don’t use insecticides in or around your home. These chemicals have been linked to cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, ADHD, and even birth defect. Household insecticide use has been linked to risk of childhood leukemia. Instead, use healthy tips like keeping your counters clean to minimize pests. Use soap or vinegar to clean your house. Check the label of everything you buy. Make sure it’s free of fragrance, free of triclosan. Don’t use air fresheners, which are full of endocrine disrupting chemicals like phthalates. Consult EWG’s “Guide to Healthy Cleaning” for more tips about how to keep your home clean safely as well as a list of safer products to have around your home.
